\nCultural wealth, characteristics and traditions of locally oriented popular Congolese painting from the 1960s to today.<\/h1>\n

The exhibition \u201cCongo Stars\u201c at Kunsthaus Graz shows the richness, peculiarities and traditions of locally oriented, popular Congolese painting from the 1960s to the present. \u201cTram 83\u201d, the book by Graz-based Congolese writer Fiston Mwanza Mujila who is also one of the exhibition\u2019s curators, serves as its starting point. Though he created an imaginary place which is based on the cities of the Congo with \u201cTram 83\u201d, this location basically could be anywhere \u2013 including Graz. It combines Congolese contemporary art and representatives of the \u201cArt Populaire\u201d to form an imaginary panorama of social, political, religious and other dynamics.<\/p>\n
