As the largest international festival for contemporary dance and performance, ImPulsTanz presents a varied program with performances, dance workshops and musical acts as well as professional work and research projects for interested experts and amateurs and is taking place every summer in Vienna. The melting pot of dance-loving visitors and numerous international dance greats as well as recognized teachers creates a special atmosphere.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There will be held trial courses – Public Moves – for young and old at various outdoor locations providing a personal insight into contemporary dance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As a prelude, the Tanztheater Wuppertal<\/em> shows “Full Moon”, a piece by Pina Bausch in which dancers abandon themselves to the ecstasy of love in the form of wild water play and run after their desires in the wetness.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

With “The Factory”, Dada Masilo transfers the ballet classic “Le sacre du printemps” (The Sacrifice of Spring), which became a scandal back then, into African dimensions. As an independent revision named “The Sacrifice”, a dozen dancers and singers mobilize ritual powers with dance and haunting rhythms from Botswana.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Geumhyung Jeong’s “Spa & Beauty,” objects in a bizarre spa environment are brought into contact with viewers’ bodies to stimulate a reflection about the relationship between user and object.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The performance “TANZ” by Florentina Holzinger is shown in the program as not suitable for people under the age of 18. Naked bodies depict self-injurious acts and perform stunt acts under stroboscopic lights. Also present is the former “Naked prima ballerina” Beatrice “Trixie” Cordua (*1943).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Throughout the festival, barrier-free participation opportunities for people with disabilities are valued.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Finally, the dance and performance festival is rounded off by the daily social music program: at the end of the evening in the Burgtheater-Vestib\u00fcle, among others, the “non-standardized” Afro-Euro-Asian artistic personality W1ZE<\/em> from Zimbabwe with her (in her own terms:) “chameleonic” Music.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
