What would the ORF be without the Peichl cake? A piece of Austrian architectural history was created 50 years ago with the ORF Landesstudio in Linz, designed by architect Gustav Peichl. The ORF Landesstudios combine form and function in an iconographic way. Even from the outside, the technology reference of electronic media production is visible in the design. At the same time, the central atrium, which forms the focal point of the \u201cPeichl cakes\u201d, embodies the actual central function of every media company: being a space for communication.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Peichl\u2019s architecture has undeniably influenced the mental climate of the people who work in these houses. This can also be deduced from the important cultural and cultural-political impulses that have been triggered by the ORF state studios over the decades. Both in Upper Austria and in other federal states.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Of course, this always requires the right people who are able to set such impulses. The long-standing director of the ORF Landesstudio in Upper Austria, Hannes Leopoldseder, was one such innovator who was in the right place at exactly the right time in the right position. Without his driving initiative, the Ars Electronica Festival Linz as we know it today or the Linzer Klangwolke would be inconceivable: media and media art together have shaped and influenced the identity and core competence of an entire city for decades.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you need proof that public service broadcasting is able to do far more for a country and its society than just reporting: the work of the ORF state studios like the one in Upper Austria is probably the best proof of this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In an exhibition, the Francisco Carolinum Linz presents the formative initiatives and moments that have emanated from the ORF regional studio in Upper Austria over the past 50 years.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
