Old furniture is currently experiencing a renaissance. “Aufm\u00f6beln!” stands for the discovery of regional history and the contemporary presentation of so-called farmhouse furniture that is anything but dusty.
Upper Austria’s “farmhouse furniture landscape” is characterized by elaborately painted furniture made by anonymous and well-known workshops.
The exhibition shows the diversity of this painted furniture culture, from chests to boxes, tables and chairs to beds. It takes a special look at themes, motifs, painting techniques, manufacturers and the distribution of such furniture.
The fascinating world of painted furniture is illuminated from the 17th to the 21st century. The exhibition focuses on various living concepts from the past to the present, the revival of rustic furniture painting in the 20th century and the social history behind the furniture. The accompanying programme with painting courses and special guided tours offers a multifaceted experience for anyone interested.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
