His paintings raise questions about the self, about presence, and about the conditions of contemporary painting. His powdery, rough application of paint carries the pigment deep into figures whose anatomy reveals what can hardly be put into words: tense muscles, protruding tendons and contorted limbs bear witness to the unlived, the animalistic and the psychologically unresolved. In Allzumenschlich, Del Pero becomes a chronicler of inner divisions, his bodies a scene of pain, anger, resistance and longing.
