With the reorganisation of its exhibition collection focusing on the Vienna 1900 era, the MAK is continuing the work it has undertaken in recent years to examine the collection from a contemporary perspective. Markus Schinwald was invited to develop a concept from an artistic perspective in close collaboration with the collection managers. The aim is to move away from a linear, chronological narrative of art and cultural history between the first Secession exhibition in 1898 and the end of the Second World War, and instead to focus on the history of ideas and designs during this formative era. A new perspective on Vienna around 1900, based on MAK exhibitions such as The Women of the Wiener Werkst\u00e4tte and diversified narratives developed for this purpose, will illustrate the essence of this formative era. In addition to treasures from the museum’s own collection, high-calibre loans will also be featured. The three new exhibition rooms offer a cross-section of this heyday of applied art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
