This event is now regarded as one of the birth moments of photography. Since then, the medium has not only changed our view of the world, but has also had a lasting impact on the image-making and working methods of artists. To mark this anniversary, the exhibition brings works from different periods in the collections of the museums of the City of Linz into an open dialogue. Curated by Sarah Jonas, the exhibition explores the fundamental conditions of the medium itself: Through five thematic focal points, it explores the key parameters that contribute to the creation of a photograph. Technical aspects of photography play just as much a role as the themes addressed.
