Yet this distinction has long since become inadequate: today, nature is observed, measured, exploited, protected and threatened. And staged. It no longer appears as an immediate reality, but rather exists in a state of constant mediation.<br>This is where the exhibition \u2018Constructed Nature\u2019 comes in. The depictions of animals by Dana Meyer, Nelly Schm\u00fccking and Matthias Garff present the animal not merely as a motif, but as a counterpart. It becomes a mirror of our perception and our responsibility towards living beings.<br>The exhibition venue, Bad Ischl, reinforces this line of inquiry. The idyllic Salzkammergut landscape is both a natural and cultural space, historically shaped by exploitation, aestheticisation and appropriation, as seen, for example, in the Imperial Villa with its hunting trophies.
