Over the course of five festival days, around 50 international and national feature films, documentaries and short films \u2013 including numerous Austrian premieres \u2013 invite audiences to explore the ever-relevant theme of \u2018home\u2019 from different perspectives and to engage with it in depth. With its programme, the festival seeks each year not only to rethink the \u2018Heimatfilm\u2019 but also the multifaceted and politically contested concept of \u2018home\u2019, exploring and discussing it in all its facets. Over the years, identity and migration have emerged as key themes, but the screen in Freistadt also focuses on stories of often overlooked lives and structural change in rural areas.
