The festival opens with Johann Lurf\u2019s \u201cForever\u2026Forever\u201d, which condenses 22 months at the Ottenstein Reservoir into 21 minutes and is screened on 70-mm film. The closing film is \u201cThe Loneliest Man in Town\u201d by Tizza Covi and Rainer Frimmel. The duo is also the subject of the ninth volume in the Viennale book series \u201cTextur\u201d. <br>In \u201cHalayon\u201d, Avi Mograbi draws on footage from Saffuriyya, the village from which his friend Ali Al Azhari was expelled in 1948. Kamal Aljafari\u2019s \u201cGoing Home\u201d features images from Gaza shown on his parents\u2019 television. Laura Poitras\u2019 and Rachel Lauren Mueller\u2019s \u201cThey\u2019re Here\u201d follows residents of Minneapolis as they organise protests against ICE raids during the freezing winter. Mohammad Rasoulof, who has been living in exile since 2024, portrays in \u201cSense of Water\u201d an Iranian writer weighing up whether to return to his homeland and face a prison sentence. Bani Khoshnoudi\u2019s \u201cElegy for the Forgotten, on an Endless War\u201d brings together images of violence in Iran, from the war with Iraq to this year\u2019s bomb attacks.<br>Kleber Mendon\u00e7a Filho\u2019s *South of Tehran*, co-directed with Jafar Panahi, will be screened before Mani Haghighi\u2019s *I Deserve a Lover*. Several other Austrian filmmakers will also be presenting their successful festival entries: Sandra Wollner\u2019s *Everytime*, Valeska Grisebach\u2019s *The Dreamed Adventure*, Katharina Rabl\u2019s *Memories of a Forest*, Andrina Mra\u010dnikar\u2019s *Mila\/Marija*, Sebastian Brameshuber\u2019s *London* and Manuel Wetscher\u2019s *Eklipse*. In the international section, a number of big names are eagerly awaited, including Albert Serra (*Sixteen Moments of My Life*), Angela Schanelec (*My Wife Cries*), Bruno Dumont (*Red Rocks*), Denis C\u00f4t\u00e9 (\u2018Nobody\u2019s Violence\u2019), Mariano Llin\u00e1s (\u2018Life of Jorge Luis Borges\u2019) and James Benning (\u2018Eight Bridges\u2019). Ulrike Ottinger will be screening \u2018Die Blutgr\u00e4fin\u2019 (The Blood Countess), starring Isabelle Huppert and Birgit Minichmayr in the lead roles. Volker Schl\u00f6ndorff will present his film \u201cVisitation\u201d and, in a public discussion, look back on six decades as a director.<br>In the section showcasing the cr\u00e8me de la cr\u00e8me of the most prestigious festivals, the programme also includes This year\u2019s trailer was created by Kelly Reichardt, who used scenes that did not make it into the film \u201cThe Mastermind\u201d.<br>The monographs are dedicated to the American experimental filmmaker Phil Solomon and Vasko Pregelj, whose films from Yugoslav amateur film clubs were considered lost for 25 years. The \u2018Cinematographies\u2019 focus on the war correspondent and filmmaker Jocelyne Saab, as well as on Abbas Kiarostami\u2019s early short films for children. The series \u2018Alles bunt und wunderbar?\u2019, organised in collaboration with Filmarchiv Austria, is devoted to Austrian cinema of the 1990s.
