Spanning from the 16th century to the 1970s, the exhibition demonstrates that women have played a decisive role in shaping the development of art, even though their contributions remained invisible or were forgotten for a long time. Women artists have always been part of art history \u2013 yet to this day, their work has rarely been given the attention it deserves. In a comprehensive survey spanning various periods, the exhibition focuses extensively on the women artists in the Albertina\u2019s collection. Works spanning five centuries are on display: from drawings and prints by early female engravers and publishers \u2013 already collected by Duke Albert of Saxony-Teschen and Archduchess Marie Christine of Habsburg-Lorraine \u2013 through to modernist female artists and the early feminist movements of the 1970s. Drawing on their biographies, *Her Story* portrays female artists as enterprising, committed, inquisitive, well-connected and established figures, thereby offering a new perspective on art history through the collection. The exhibition is based on a research project initiated by the Albertina\u2019s new director, Ralph Gleis, focusing on women artists across all areas of the collection.
