Digital Spring aims to arouse curiosity: for dance, theatre and performance at the interface with media art, for the expansion of theatrical means through digital technologies.
The MEDIA ART LAB is an extensive residency programme at the heart of the festival. The participating Salzburg artists are working on four projects, all of which have one thing in common: they do not yet exist. B:RHR:NG by Ursula Schwarz, MOOPA by Oblivia / Felix Ludwig, ICH HASSE MENSCHEN by Nils Corte / Lena Rucker / Yvonne Schäfer and MENGELE ZOO by Jenny Szabo / Fabian Schober will only celebrate their premieres at ARGEkultur between the end of 2024 and the end of 2025. The MEDIA ART LAB marks the start of the production of these works – their artistic and technical foundations are to be researched and further developed.
Finally, as part of the DIGITAL SPRING, you can also visit two outstanding current media art works to see what forms finished works can take at the interface of art and the digital: The online performance COMMUNE AI 2.0 by Interrobang works playfully with an artificial intelligence and poses questions about the coexistence of man and machine. And the gaming project OPERA – A FUTURE GAME by Michael von zur Mühlen and Thomas Köck, which was awarded the German theatre prize “Der Faust”, is a lecture performance and installation that takes us into a dystopian opera house.
