90 galleries from five continents will present works selected exclusively for SPARK. The artists’ positions will be shown as usual in solo presentations. The fair offers a global spectrum of contemporary art, ranging from painting and photography to innovative and interactive mixed-media installations. This year’s fair is all about the dialogue between tradition and the future, artists and the public, and people and technology. Artistic directors Jan Gustav Fiedler and Walter Seidl want to provide a stage for both up-and-coming talents and established artists: ‘Our democratic exhibition structure with equal stand space for everyone not only promotes equal opportunities, but also gives visitors the opportunity to engage intensively with the works on display.’ SPARK Art Fair Vienna 2025 also opens up new perspectives by seamlessly combining art and technology. The Smartphone Orchestra, a project that transforms smartphones into a collective musical instrument, will provide a collective experience. Participants are invited to use their devices to become part of an impressive work of sound art.
Away from the classic exhibition areas, the programme in the adjacent GLOBE Theatre invites visitors to engage in discourse. Live performances, video art and discussion panels will take place here during the days of the fair. Artists, curators and art experts from all over the world will debate current topics in contemporary art, such as the increasing importance of artificial intelligence in the art world. The SPARK Art Fair appeals to the youngest visitors on Family Day: The children’s afternoon on Sunday features interactive stations, creative workshops and child-friendly guided tours that encourage children to get creative themselves and look at art from new perspectives.
