The exhibition ‘Viaje iniciático al impenetrable Chaco salteño’ at the Palacio Libertad in Buenos Aires also features works by the Austrian artist Gertrudis Chale, whose fascinating life story has left important traces in Argentina’s art history. Gertrudis Chale was born in Vienna in 1898 and studied at the University of Applied Arts. She moved to Argentina in 1934. From there, she travelled to other regions of South America, to cultures and landscapes that shaped her artistic work. She received numerous awards for her works. The exhibition is organised by the BaC Gallery from Salta and the Visual Arts Department of the Palacio Libertad with the support of the Austrian Embassy in Buenos Aires.
