In 2025, audiences can look forward to a special project: In cooperation with Johann Strauss 2025 Vienna, Strauss’ first and thoroughly turbulent operetta INDIGO UND DIE 23 RÄUBER*INNEN is touring all 23 districts as part of the WIR SIND WIEN FESTIVAL. Director Anna Bernreitner is creating an open-air format for the festival, which can be experienced 23 times in June at various open-air venues. On a total of seven dates, there will be introductory talks about the work directly at the stage location, covering not only Johann Strauss and the operetta, but also the challenges of an open-air production.
The increased focus on cultural education is also reflected in the STADTSPAZIERGÄNGEN, which are firmly anchored in the programme. In the year of remembrance 2025, the focus is on the culture of remembrance, with walks to collective places of remembrance in public spaces, across the Steinhofgründe or through the Jewish-influenced Leopoldstadt.
Musically, the 2025 programme ranges from classical music to Viennese techno and pop.
The audience can look forward to a Nestroy play as well as the Nestroy Prize-winning OSKAR WERNER WIRTSHAUSTOUR with Bernhard Dechant. The DRAG SOFA on the Tschaun stage also promises an unforgettable evening, where the three scene greats Ryta Tale, Grazia Patricia and Metamorgkid won’t mince their words.
Vienna’s youngest are also invited to start the summer with the WIR SIND WIEN FESTIVAL. After last year’s great success, children can show off their riding skills again this year at the STECKENPFERD-DERBY! In addition, the ROBINSON ADVENTURE PLAYGROUND organised by Wiener Kinderfreunde offers a wide range of opportunities to get to grips with nature in the city, and on five dates we will be showing the dance performance EAT SLEEP DANCE REPEAT, a collaboration between Junges Theater Wien and SILK Fluegge.
