The two artists, Rebecca Evans (USA/UK) and Mira Loew (AT), work at the interface of dance, visual art and digital performance. In alternating roles – choreographer, photographer, content consultant – they explore the question of how technologies can not only be tools, but also co-creators. For the duration of their performance residency at Bildraum Studio, Evans and Loew are developing an immersive multimedia installation and spatial sculpture about artificial intelligence, female ageing and whales – those giants of the deep whose sonar songs are reminiscent of other forms of knowledge transfer. With their project, Evans and Loew rethink intelligence – not as code or cognitive capacity, but as a resonance space and collaborate for the first time with specially developed AI: a chatbot, formed in co-creation with humans with uteruses, meets stable diffusion models that create fluid visual worlds.
