The exhibition Slips, Trips, Falls, curated by Arina Nekliudova, is a project by Belarusian-born artist Natallia Goryacheva that interprets the act of falling as a creative and transformative force that can cause systems to totter, narrative threads to shift and new realities to emerge. The starting point is a recurring dream of falling – as an unconscious resistance to ‘productive’ society and its illusion of security. Anchored in surrealism and with irony, Goryacheva tells the stories of a strange figure – the alien – who wanders through orderly, controlled spaces with amazement and irritation. With irony and provocation, she questions social stereotypes, cultural norms and institutional structures.
