ImPulsTanz, Europe’s largest dance festival, also gathers the international dance and performance scene in Vienna in 2025. This year’s edition presents 49 productions in 18 venues – from the Burgtheater to the Odeon to the Arsenal. The programme includes 6 world premieres, 29 Austrian premieres, 3 ImPulsTanz Classics and 11 tracks from the [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series. In addition, the festival invites you to an installation, 2 exhibitions, 2 book presentations and every evening in the ImPulsTanz Festival Lounge at the Burgtheater Vestibül. The festival of the triple evening CLUB AMOUR by Tanztheater Wuppertal Pina Bausch + Terrain Boris Charmatz will open, during which Bausch’s legendary Café Müller enters into dialogue with two early works by Charmatz on the Burgtheater stage. The programme also includes the Austrian premieres of Joe Alegado and Guests and Alleyne Dance at Arsenal, Laurent Goldring & Wagner Schwartz and Ola Maciejewska at mumok and the world premiere of Yosi Wanunu & Peter Stamer / toxic dreams in the Dunkelkammer at Volkstheater. 10 years after the tribute to exceptional artists Ko Murobushi in the Odeon, profound insights into his work can be expected again there. With his light installation, Christopher Matthews celebrates the nightlife and queer culture in a field of dreams in room D in the MQ. [8:tension] Young Choreographers’ Series traces 11 highly personal works on how societal upheavals, social interactions and new forms of communication inscribe themselves in the memories of our bodies. Matteo Haitzmann is followed by Martina De Dominicis, Marika Peura, Productions Xx and Gui B.B.
