The Viennese design collective Design in Gesellschaft – DING for short – is making a guest appearance at the RÖHSSKA Design Museum in Gothenburg this summer with the support of the embassy. Four teams of designers from Austria are creating a pavilion in the shape of a whale on the theme of ‘Wa(h)lheimat/Valhemland’ in the premises of the ‘Super Ö’ (Super Island) museum, where people can work and celebrate. The whale pavilion in Super Ö is a place for concentrated work that also serves as a meeting point for exchange, events and dialogue. A Swedish tradition will also be revived: Valbaren – a whale café that is now a nostalgic legend for many Gothenburgers. The public is invited to interact with the designers. Special events are organised on several days.
