In cooperation with the Ars Electronica Festival 2025, Bildraum 07 is showing ‘Above All’, the latest video essay and a site-specific installation by artist Enar de Dios Rodríguez. The winner of the Marianne.von.Willemer.Prize for Digital Media 2024 combines visual, material and narrative levels to create dense environments in which power structures are visualised and questioned. The installation in the entrance area takes up the vertical perspective and then visually undermines it. Depictions of air spaces cover the floor of Bildraum 07 in a dense formation – not as a cartographic arrangement, but as a homogeneous surface. Whoever enters the space inevitably intervenes in it: The images shift, crease, tear and reveal a presence that is as fragile as it is inescapable. The interplay of video, installation and interaction creates complex visual and conceptual levels in which geopolitical tensions, historical continuities and collective actions overlap.
