The Bezau Beatz Festival brings top international musicians in the field of improvised, creative music to the idyllic village of Bezau in the Austrian Bregenzerwald. Over the course of a weekend in atmospheric venues and an intimate atmosphere, people with an open mind can experience collective musical enjoyment.
The concerts are held in such diverse locations as the Wälderbahn-Remise, an art forge, a panorama platform at an altitude of 1650 metres, a chapel, in and around the Hotel Post Bezau as well as on the village square in Bezau. All venues are within walking distance and the performances are timed so that you can experience a good 20 concerts over the weekend.
A highlight of the festival is the popular trip on the Wälderbahn railway with a DJ on board. The focus is on music that defies most categorisations, but impresses with its spirit of exploration and artistic brilliance and shows where musical boundaries can be expanded.
Since the beginning, the festival has stood for diversity, gender equality, fair pay and sustainability. Austrian drummer and festival curator Alfred Vogel is well-connected in the scene and brings a lot of expertise to the table when it comes to bringing talented and established musicians together. As a result, you often hear international musicians from all over the world in Bezau, who then travel by public transport because they live in Berlin or Paris, for example.
A workshop will also be offered to accompany the festival – for those interested and advanced in improvisation or dance.
