It is no coincidence that the EBORAN Gallery is showing Eilergerhards work during the festival season. Where stage art, sensuality and exaggeration meet, her visual language also fits perfectly into summery Salzburg. With the exhibition ‘ÜBERZUCKERT’, the internationally renowned Berlin artist Anke Eilergerhard can be seen in Salzburg for the first time. At first glance, Anke Eilergerhard’s sculptures look like sweet temptations from a pastel-coloured wonderland. But beneath the sugary surface lies conceptual depth: “For me, the cream topping is the perfect sculptural form. It has something cosmic about it. It reflects the longing for paradise,” says Eilergerhard herself. Her works are deceptive – and at the same time tell of abundance, of beauty, of society’s hunger for perfection and of getting lost in the visual.
