In a world held together by borders, we seek comfort in what we know. Comfort is also sought through surveillance, an instability masquerading as stability, a sense of ease created through control. We live with the luxury of oblivion; it is a safety mechanism. We live with the comfort of dropping them, leaving them behind while the cameras record everything in peace. Memories pile up in neat stacks, seemingly abandoned, silently waiting to be found again. We prefer to seek closeness somewhere else rather than here. We can forget who we are and what we long for, but not them. Not the structured grid. hallohilfe and Johannes Hartman construct a spatial dialogue: from top to bottom, from looking to forgetting. They ask us to think about how we fit into this world, and how much this world forgets us and can forget us.
