The Viennese photographer Franzi Kreis successfully took part in the Fotografia Calabria Festival last year with her exhibition ‘Generazione Beta’ in collaboration with the Austrian Cultural Forum in Rome. This year, the photo project ‘Sementeryo’ – meaning ‘cemetery’ – by the Italian-Filipino photo artist Melissa Peritore, who lives in Austria, will be shown. She uses her camera to explore hidden and invisible realities on the margins of society, such as queer and indigenous communities, and investigates the effects of mass tourism. ‘Sementeryo’ shows a profound intersection of life and death in the striking surroundings of two cemeteries in Metro Manila (Philippines): the Manila North and South Cemetery. The exhibition, curated by the Fotografia Calabria Festival in San Lucido (CS), will later be shown at the Cultural Forum.
