On 6 December 2024, the last ‘Mirabell Echte Salzburger Mozartkugeln’ rolled off the production line at the Salzburg Schokolade factory in Grödig. The long-established company, whose roots date back to 1897, was then closed down for good. Peter Hellekalek has documented the last two months of the chocolate factory in photographs. In his series, he shows the people at their workplaces and the machines used to produce Mozartkugeln and other confectionery. The photos offer a sentimental look back at a traditional Austrian company and its world-famous product. What is shown has already become history.
