In its current exhibition, L-art VIENNA presents several series of works by Ursula Hübner: The Invisible, First Garden, Die Organe der Geister (The Organs of Ghosts), Justine, Romantic Organs. Still lifes, delicate pastel drawings and powerful oil paintings with subtle colouring reflect the inner and outer worlds and make the uncertainty that lies behind things tangible. The dialogue between them, that which touches and connects to create something new, is made visible. The viewer is presented with a multi-layered composition in which bodies and figures are staged. Thematically, the paintings, collages and pastels refer to the fragility of the body and the planet, to the question of the balance of living beings, and to the necessity and confidence to ‘turn adversity around’.
Alina Grabovsky’s works are created in series and depict social processes and changes in a multi-layered way. She addresses unstable conditions, precarious identities, transitions and transformations. To this end, she usually shows only parts of the human body, fragmented in poses or scenes from everyday life, leisure and eroticism, interwoven and intertwined. In a seemingly absurd spatial diversity that follows no laws of perspective, Alina Grabovsky processes autobiographical experiences of her Ukrainian-German-Jewish identity.
