The Lichtstadt association is responsible for the biennial ‘Lichtstadt Feldkirch’ festival and for the annual “Spotlight” event, during which the light art installation ‘Crystalline’ was presented for the first time. The light art project ‘Crystalline’ by Vorarlberg artist Sofia Hagen was awarded the ‘un Design Award’ – an international prize that honours creative excellence, visionary thinking and sustainable design. First shown at “Spotlight” in 2024, the work will be presented again at this year’s ‘Lichtstadt Feldkirch’. At the centre of the artwork is a 2.7-metre-high glowing salt crystal, accompanied by smaller crystals – all made from recycled medical plastic waste using state-of-the-art 3D printing technology. Inspired by the historic Churer Tor location, the sculpture combines local history with contemporary light art, innovative technology and ecological responsibility.
