Illustrations are everywhere. We encounter them everywhere: on posters in public spaces, in newspapers and/or children’s books. However, viewers are often unaware of who created these works or who was involved in their creation. The works of the illustrators presented reflect the diversity of different styles and approaches and provide insights into various working methods in the fields of artwork, storyboarding, technology, advertising, children’s books, science and publishing illustration. Since the founding of the Biennial of Illustrations, BIB Bratislava, designaustria has assumed the role of national nominating body. Ten Austrian children’s and young adult book illustrators will also be represented at this year’s 30th Biennial of Illustrations Bratislava 2025. A further selection will showcase the broad spectrum of Austrian illustration in a parallel exhibition at the Austrian Cultural Forum.
