In 2025, the festival will once again celebrate global cinematic diversity with a wide range of narrative, documentary and animated short films. With 3,500 submissions from 140 countries, the festival has set a new record this year – 70 films have been selected, many of them as Austrian, European or even world premieres. ‘Our festival is a window to the world – with voices from all continents that make diversity and solidarity visible,’ emphasise festival directors Parisa Ghasemi and Ashkan Nematian. The festival opens in the main hall of the City-Kino Linz with ‘Majonezë’ by Giulia Grandinetti, the winner of the Mahsa Jina Amini Award 2023, which has since won international awards and been submitted as an Oscar candidate. The opening programme is complemented by three competition films that have been developed over the last few years as part of the Linz ISFF Film Talent Academy.
