The natural surroundings serve as a comforting anchor for the idea of ‘What lies ahead?’, the mirrors in the forest as a metaphor for the many questions we ask ourselves about the world, about ourselves, about the conceivable possibilities of an ‘afterwards’. Elisabeth Czihak works with moments of formal reduction and abstraction, with spatial emptiness and absence, with interstices and negative space. Claudia-Maria Luenig’s works consist of lines that are both threads and traces – drawn, straight, curved, endless, enclosing, encompassing, integrated, alienated, interrupted, uninterrupted, embroidered, torn, knitted, circling, never-ending fields of lines. The drawing functions as a blueprint, as a template for the body’s own experience.
