In 2025, the Crossroads Festival once again invites visitors to engage with crucial contemporary developments. In addition to current challenges, the selection of exciting new documentaries highlights people, initiatives and movements that are committed to preserving our natural resources and social achievements and want to enable a good life for all. Impressive images tell inspiring stories that show possible courses of action and encourage courage. Most of the films shown will celebrate their Austrian or European premieres at the festival. Many have won a wide variety of awards. Discussions following the screenings will provide an opportunity to exchange ideas with filmmakers and protagonists and discuss the topics covered in the films. Additional lectures, debates and workshops complete the programme. The festival is curated and organised by a team led by Josef Obermoser, long-time co-curator of the Elevate Festival and former representative for social policy at Forum Stadtpark. This year’s festival will open at the Heimatsaal with the New Zealand film We Were Dangerous.
