12.11.2025 – 16.11.2025
Book Vienna 25 is by far the largest book festival in Austria. And this year, it is the largest Book Vienna ever held. It is a Book Vienna of change and renewal. A total of nine stages and four workshop zones will offer 322 hours of Book Vienna programming this year. Book Vienna 25 will once again open with the Long Night of Books. The opening speech will be given by Shila Behjat, journalist, publicist and culture editor with German-Iranian roots, as well as author of the bestseller ‘Raising Sons as a Feminist’. For the first time, an Austrian Nobel Prize winner will take to the stage at Book Vienna: to mark the Year of Quantum Physics, Nobel Prize winner in Physics Anton Zeilinger and Marissa Giustina, senior scientist at Google Quantum AI Lab, will shed light on the mysterious world of quantum physics. This year’s Book Vienna programme also features a number of literary voices from exile, including Usama Al-Shahmani from Iraq, Aliyeh Ataei from Iran, Sergej Lebedew from Russia and Ganna Gnedkova from Ukraine. Also not to be missed are French-Canadian graphic novel superstar Guy Delisle and French comic artist Catherine Meurisse, who narrowly escaped the terrorist attack on the Charlie Hebdo editorial office and became the first female comic artist to be admitted to the Académie des Beaux-Arts in 2020.
