Austria is once again represented at the DocsMX documentary film festival in Mexico City in the international competition ‘Global Docs’ – with the moving film Dear Beautiful Beloved by director Juri Rechinsky. The documentary accompanies people who have been uprooted by the war in Ukraine – in their search for safety, closeness and a remnant of everyday life. With great restraint and a keen sense of nuance, director Juri Rechinsky portrays civilians fleeing their homes, shows nurses caring for the wounded, and reveals how, even in the midst of destruction, spaces for humanity, dignity and mutual support can emerge. Dear Beautiful Beloved is a quiet, haunting film about humanity in times of violence. Screenings will take place at the Cineteca Nacional, the Goethe-Institut Mexico and outdoors, among other venues.
