The Winterfest is the most important festival for contemporary circus in the German-speaking world. This year, the festival celebrates its 25th anniversary. Five companies will be celebrating this special event. Three of them are well known in Salzburg – Cirque Le Roux from France, Akoreacro from France and Michael Zandl from Austria – while two are coming to Salzburg for the first time – Cirque Eloize from Canada and La Faux Populaire from France. This anniversary programme brings together everything that has defined the essence of this festival for a quarter of a century. It is a lively place of encounter and wonder where community and trust, development despite surprise, identity alongside tolerance are the highest values.
