The exhibition ‘RaumDenken’ (Thinking Space) is an invitation to think your way into it and combine the visible and three-dimensional with the invisible and imaginable. In his new groups of works, Saalfeld-born Peter Tschulnigg composes shapes, patterns, lines and colours into rhizomatic structures that connect with each other and with us. Discoveries open up in his associative spaces, and traces can be read. The works on paper and canvas question our viewing habits and make it clear to us that this way of working and thinking is characterised by diversity, interconnectedness and constant change. The oldest of Tschulnigg’s three series of works in the exhibition curated by Prof. Claus Friede dates from 2018 to 2019. The pictures are rhythmic narratives on canvas that evoke dance, movement, freedom, improvisation and music. Like rhythms moving in different directions, the landscape formats can be read and are the starting point for newer series of works. All the works in the exhibition, both individually and in combination with each other, appear as ‘colour-tonal’ spaces, connecting, complementing and overlapping each other.
