In Tales of my Dreams, Susanna Katter explores how nightmares, memories and emotions can be translated into visual language. Her works – oil paintings, mixed media pieces and sculptural objects – deal with the possibility of making inner images visible and consciously changing their narrative. The starting point is recurring nocturnal images and childhood memories – fragments of fear, longing and perception that have become lodged in the subconscious. These are juxtaposed in this exhibition. Between light and shadow, a space is created in which the inner self becomes audible and visible – a conscious looking and listening, an endurance, an attempt to understand rather than repress. The combination of oil painting, mixed media and sculpture creates hybrid pictorial spaces in which dream logic and reality overlap. The nightmare is not understood as a threat, but as a creative impulse – as the engine of artistic imagination. Fear is transformed into closeness, and the process itself becomes a form of liberation.
