In Extinction Story, presented by Recontemporary Turin, Claudia Larcher focuses on an object that combines origin, fragility and finitude: the egg. The starting point is her grandfather’s collection of over 5,500 bird eggs – an archive that combines natural history precision, family memories and ecological ambivalence. The film combines personal stories with questions about species extinction and biodiversity. Experimental sequences create a tension between biography and global ecology. Installation elements recontextualise the egg: a ‘planetarium’ made of eggs, a holographic bird skeleton and a projection on the façade expand the space. The result is a topography of the egg as a biological object, cultural symbol and projection surface for existential questions.
