Climate change is a global phenomenon, and everyone is affected by it – including Styria. The effects are noticeable in many ways, for example, through the decline in snow cover or the increase in extreme weather events. The exhibition, curated by Michael C. Niki Knopp, Wolfgang Paill and Michael Pinter, deals with the consequences for plants, animals and humans. Cold- or moisture-loving organisms are experiencing a loss of their habitats, while heat-loving species are able to spread further. The complex interaction between species is being disrupted, with far-reaching consequences. For us humans, increased heat waves place a high strain on the circulatory system, the advance of animal species such as the Asian tiger mosquito can lead to diseases that were previously unknown here, and heavy rainfall causes flooding. New challenges are emerging in spatial planning, agriculture and forestry. The content is conveyed not only through specimens, texts and graphics, but also through multimedia projections onto the Styrian relief.
