The exhibition The Space Between by Klara Källström & Thobias Fäldt questions the role of images against the backdrop of the fractures in late capitalist democracies and the knowledge systems that underpin them. By examining interstices and neglected areas and establishing unexpected connections between historical facts and coincidences, the artist duo challenges notions of events and their representation, pointing to relationality as a form of alternative knowledge. For this exhibition, Källström & Fäldt bring works from their archive into dialogue and add AI-generated images as an additional layer of complexity. Relationality is further explored in connection with the ontological status of AI images—as images that arise from different sources and different forms of desire—as well as in experiments with generative models. By revealing possible entanglements with indeterminate futures, images are conceived here not as carriers of fixed properties, but as contested spaces moving between tendencies and possibilities.
