Entitled ‘The Literary Space’, the dialogue exhibition by Károly Klimó and Karoline Pöhn is being presented in the exhibition space of the Austrian Cultural Forum in Budapest. The dialogue between Hungarian painter Károly Klimó and Austrian textile artist Karoline Pöhn creates a shared space in which images and words take a back seat to make room for something else: silence, absence. This space belongs to disappearance. According to Blanchot, the true centre of literary space lies in Orpheus’ gaze – at that moment when he turns around to see Eurydice and loses her precisely because of it. The exhibition curated by Krisztián Kukla recognises itself in this: those who want to see the source ultimately encounter darkness. Klimó’s painting and Pöhn’s textile works meet in this twist – where the work is both created and disappears.
