In the Anglo-American legal system, breaking and entering has historically been defined as a criminal offence distinct from burglary. While burglary refers to the intention to commit a crime inside a building, breaking and entering makes the act of trespassing itself a punishable offence. Rubén Ezequiel Löwy’s installations populate the two exhibition rooms of AG18 and further explore these two spatial constitutions. By questioning objects that function within mechanical reproduction systems, the exhibition reveals a paradoxical constellation of security, authenticity and an ambiguous legal status.
