The exhibition focuses on pieces of furniture as carriers of memory: they store time and traces of use and form a counterpart to photography, which captures a moment. The combination of both elements creates three-dimensional assemblages in which image and object, interior space and perception merge. Takizawa supplements this work with research at the Wien Museum, MAK and the Austrian National Library to examine historical furniture culture and its relationship to photographic practice. In this way, the project combines personal exploration with a contribution to the cultural history of Vienna. Parallel to the residency, the Fotogalerie Wien is showing Takizawa’s works in a solo exhibition.
