The exhibition presents new and recent sculptures, prints and textile works by French-Iranian artist Chalisée Naamani. Naamani describes her sculptures as “image garments”: these are created through a process of superimposing and collaging images and texts. Drawing on various ornamental traditions within the decorative and visual arts, fashion and popular culture, she quotes details from fabrics, paintings, personal photographs, images and archival documents from the internet to create soft sculptures that often take the form of clothing or accessories. The artist’s first solo exhibition outside France deals with the themes of migration, motherhood, feminism, resistance and home.
