On the occasion of the 20th anniversary of the establishment of the Austrian Embassy in Nicosia, Ambassador Dr. Susanne Bachfischer opened Maurice Cazzolli’s interactive installation Water Movement Nicosia. The work, selected as part of an open call, was created in collaboration with the Cypriot Ministry of Foreign Affairs, CYENS CoE and with the support of the City of Nicosia. The installation transforms Nicosia’s Town Hall Square into a temporary ‘Water Common’. Using 3D sensors, sound and projections, it invites visitors to touch digital waves, bringing a playful lightness and refreshing impulse to the urban environment. At the same time, it draws attention to the contrasting realities of abundant water in Austria and increasing water scarcity in Cyprus.
