In her work, Styrian artist Anna Jocham questions photography’s claim to reality. Does photography truly depict reality, and what impact does a flood of images have on perception, identity and memory? The exhibition ‘Expanded Shadows’, curated by Klaus-Dieter Hartl, presents a cross-section of different media image worlds. From manipulated advertising images of the 1990s and 2000s to the endless flood of images on social networks, the exhibition examines the consequences of media consumption on social relationships, body images, consumption and notions of intimacy.
