The exhibition in the United Kingdom, which focuses on Marie Antoinette, the Austrian-born Queen of France, presents not only her origins and life story, but also her timeless appeal as a fashion icon to this day. Artists, designers and filmmakers – from Alexander McQueen to Sofia Coppola – have been inspired by Marie Antoinette. The film series at the Cultural Forum takes a broader look at court life, beginning with Farewell, My Queen, starring Diane Kruger as Marie Antoinette and Léa Seydoux as Sidonie Laborde. Also showing is ‘Mary Stuart, Queen of Scots’, based on Stefan Zweig’s book ‘Maria Stuart’, which was adapted for the screen by Andrea Staka, Thomas Imbach and Eduard Habsburg. We conclude the programme with ‘The Death of Louis XIV’, Albert Serra’s fascinating portrait of the Sun King.
