Ecology, or rather the accelerated collapse of this complex network of relationships, is at the heart of Michael Goldgruber’s photographic oeuvre. It is an intense and constant encounter with all the densely interwoven damage to nature, where he works out the fault lines of perception in order to find a visual language beyond the voyeurism of nature’s destruction. Michael Goldgruber has portrayed many researchers and places of scientific research where the sensitive balance of nature is being explored in order to develop measures to save it. Climate and biodiversity research has been continuously expanded in recent years, and so, in addition to the excellence of individual researchers, some institutes are also new and exemplary examples of architecture. Through the axial clarity of the image construction and the subtle use of light, the artist creates an aesthetic space that conveys optimism even in times of crisis.
