More and more people are finding themselves in situations where they need care. This is not only a challenge, but care and nursing also form the basis of human coexistence. The exhibition is dedicated to existential areas of care work. Artists use objects to create a contemporary sign language of the kitchen. They make care work – often invisible and performed under precarious working conditions – visible. They address motherhood in the context of the art world. Touching photographs of elderly care show intergenerational cohesion. The show illustrates the artistic shift from the feminist avant-garde of the 1970s to contemporary positions. Curated by founding director Gabriele Schor, the exhibition aims to contribute to the appreciation of care work, which is predominantly performed by women.
