The exhibition ‘Land Bodies, Decomposing Mass’ at the Kitchener-Waterloo Art Gallery presents international works from a transatlantic audiovisual collaboration that explores moorland landscapes as living archives of memory, ecology and transformation. Austrian sound artist Fabian Lanzmeier is collaborating with Ingrid Bjørnaali, Maria Simmons and Simon Daniel Tegnander Wenzel on immersive studies of moorland landscapes in Finland, Estonia, Norway and Canada. Using field recordings and digital animations, the artists translate moorland knowledge into visual and sonic forms, reflecting on deep time, environmental interconnectedness and cultural memory. Curated by Darryn Doull, the exhibition invites visitors to engage with material decay and the boundary between past and present.
