The Madrid Hybrid Art Fair is a contemporary art event that focuses on presenting experimental and site-specific installations. It has positioned itself as a springboard for emerging artists and is a meeting place for international art collectors.
Kata Oelschlägel and Birgit Zinner will present their work at this year’s Hybrid Art Fair. Kata Oelschlägel, whose works can also be seen at the Gezwanzig Gallery in Vienna, explores the visual language of Viennese Actionism and develops an aesthetic that allows for ambiguity and questions connotations. Central elements such as blood, cuts, skin and the human body itself are translated into sculptural processes. With the installation ‘In Between / La Escala,’ Birgit Zinner continues her interactive and performative project ‘Mit Kofferkunst quer durch Europa’ (Across Europe with Suitcase Art), in which she assumes a double identity: on the one hand, she presents herself as a travelling saleswoman with a sample catalogue; on the other hand, she plays freely with the established structures of the art market by revealing and questioning them through performative actions.
